Or will it haunt Brett Favre in his retirement life? A quick run-down of the Madden Curse: (click the year to see the cover)
11 cover players since 1999 had a total of forty pro bowl appearances among them prior to their Madden cover appearances. After they had been featured, only 4 pro bowl appearances have been made.
Eddie George 2001- Never averaged more than 3.4 yards a game after he was on the cover
Daunte Culpepper 2002- In first 11 games of the season, threw 13 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and had a season-ending injury in his 11th game
Marshall Faulk 2003-Played through an injured ankle the whole season, rushing total dropped below 1000 yards, and the Rams missed the NFL playoffs
Michael Vick 2004- Injured in a preseason game, ended up playing 5 games, now in prison instead of the NFL
Ray Lewis 2005-First season without an interception, broke his arm in week 15, ravens missed the playoffs
Donovan McNabb 2006-Suffered Sports Hernia, lost his two top receivers, and had a season-ending injury
Shaun Alexander 2007- Fractured his foot, missed 6 starts, and is now unemployed
Vince Young 2008-QB rating of 71.1, threw 17ints and 9 passing touchdowns, doesn't even look like an NFL quarterback yet, then gets beat in round 1 of the playoffs
Brett Favre 2009-???? The Packers go 0-16? Some nasty scandal comes out about Favre (I hope not)?
