I am currently participating as the Sonics GM in a blogger mock draft. Headed by the guy at "What Would Oakley Do?"

Here's my explanation..

Jerryd Bayless would be able to be a significant contributor right off the bat. The point guard situation in Seattle is bad. Luke Ridnour has been horrible ever since Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis left. Earl Watson isn't the floor commandor a point guard needs to be. Bayless and Kevin Durant would form one of the top young backcourts in the NBA.

What player I DON'T want my team to pick: Kevin Love.

Believe it or not, Jerryd Bayless isn't the consenus pick, and in ESPN's Chad Ford's latest mock draft, he has the Sonics taking Love. Although he is one of the most NBA-ready and the most fundamentally sound players in the draft, the Sonics would make a big mistake by taking him.

The Sonics can't draft a player in the frontline when their backcourt needs the most help.Besides, Kevin Love is almost a clone of Nick Collison in my opinion. Sphere: Related Content
