Meet the Blogger: Kevin Cacabelos

Who is your favorite sports team?
The Washington Husky Football team. The Huskies will always hold a special place in my heart. Most of my dad and my bonding time came at Husky games at Husky Stadium. Players like Brock Huard, Marquis Tuiasosopo, Rich Alexis, Cody Pickett, and Curtis Williams will forever be embedded in my childhood memories.

Who is your all-time favorite athlete?
As a kid, baseball was the first sport I ever played and loved to play as well. Growing up in Seattle, Ken Griffey Jr. was not only a sports icon but a cultural icon as well. I remember going to games in the Kingdome and watching the greatness of him.

What is your favorite sport to play?
Even though I'm short, the never-ending action of basketball feeds my needs as an athlete.

What is your favorite sport to watch?
College Basketball. If you want close games, flip the channel to Pac-Ten basketball. Even if UW isn't playing, games are always extremely close. Undeserving losses and lucky wins make NCAA basketball a thrill to watch.

What is your best personal encounter with an athlete?
Two years ago, a good friend of mine introduced to me a rare opportunity to watch some NBA stars and semi-pro basketball players in a summer league game at Rainier Beach High School. At the game I saw a lot Seattle stars in the stands and on the hardwood. Players like Nate Robinson, Jamaal Williams, Martell Webster, Jamal Crawford, etc. I got a nice seat in the bleachers about five minutes before tipoff. Right at tipoff, BRANDON ROY and a friend of his, sat right in front of me and my friend. While Brandon Roy was eating, the famous Ezell's chicken his friend showed us a picture of some rims he was looking to get on his car. It was cool.

Why did you start SeaTown Sports?
I've always wanted to start a blog, but I've never been able to sustain it. For what reason? There's too many of them. I was surprised that there were no quality blogs that covered all of Seattle Sports in general. Thankfully I was able to enlist the help of threee of my friends and SeaTown Sports was born.
