Number Seven
One of the first stars of Seattle Mariners baseball ever is Alvin Davis. Davis set the groundwork for stardom in Mariner baseball for future stars like Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, and Ichiro. Alvin Davis had a relatively short career with only nine seasons in the major leagues.
Alvin Davis' best year came as a rookie in 1984 where he cranked out 27 home runs and drove in 116 runs. Alvin ended up winning the rookie of the year that year and finished 12th in MVP voting. Alvin Davis didn't put up amazing numbers, but the reason he is higher than Boone, Langston, and Buhner is the fact that he was the first true star for the Seattle Mariners
The nickname "Mr. Mariner" was given to Alvin Davis and has stuck ever since setting several offensive records during his tenure and career as a Seattle Mariner.
In 1991, Davis was not retained by the Mariners, and as a free agent, Davis signed with the California Angels. He had a disappointing first half with the Angels and was subsequently released. He went on to play pro ball in Japan but retired shortly after. In 1997, Alvin "Mr. Mariner" Davis was inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame.
