Huskies vs. BYU: Boise State Deja Vu?

The Huskies got embarrassed last week. I don't want to even think about that game. After a 0-1 start, the Dawgs will face off against the the BYU Cougars. BYU is ranked No. 15. They're pretty good. Interesting note, BYU currently has the longest winning streak dating back to last year.

Last season, Boise State also had the nation's longest winning streak going into their game against UW, Boise State ended up losing. I have a a gut feeling the Dawgs will steal this one just like they stole a game from Boise State last season.

Pre-Game Points:
  • If you can stay in the game for the first half, you can compete in the second half as well. The defense and offense were doing decent in the first half against Oregon. But when the second half hit, all hell broke loose. Ty Willingham and his staff need to make a dramatic adjustments so the Oregon game won't become routine.
  • Maybe Oregon's run defense is real good, or the Huskies stink at running the ball, or both. Either way, the Huskies will need to have someone other than Jake Locker to run the ball, this means the O-Line needs to step it up as well. Run Game leads to efficency, efficency leads to points, points lead to wins. Simple. Right?
  • Being at home makes a big difference. I except this youthful team to strive at Husky Stadium. And although the last loss was tough, the fans will be behind this team 100%. There is going to be hella people at the stadium.
  • Like every team this year, the main concern for the BYU Cougars will be Jake Locker. I have a feeling Locker's athleticism will be contained well by Pac-10 teams, but not as well by non-conference foes who have yet to defend Locker.
  • Is this game a must-win? Yes. You absolutely can't start 0-2. If the Dawgs can pull this off they will have significant momentum going into the Oklahoma game. A bounceback win would be nice.

Something to watch: Fan reaction. I'm going to the game and I already have a feeling that fans are going to be bashing Tyrone Willingham and his staff ruthlessly if the Huskies lose this game. So...what will the reaction be like if they win? More fan trust in Tyrone? We'll see....

Completely off-topic: Rick Neuheisel...oh whatever..

Personal Note:
Let's break College Football's longest winning streak. Let's win this ranked game.
