Oh yea, and most of the names came from a great blog called UW Dawg Pound. I highly suggest you go there for more in-depth analysis on each coaching candidate. Money won't be an issue, sources say their willing to pay in the 2 million zone..
PLEASE VOTE AT THE BOTTOM FOR YOUR CHOICE!!!
Early Preliminary Top Candidates: Pinkel, Mora, Kiffin
Gary Pinkel-Currently the head football coach at the University of Missouri, is a former Washington coach for Don James as the offensive coordinator. My personal favorite, experience along with being a former coach for UW and knowing the program well is a big plus
Jeff Tedford-Currently the head football coach at University of California, very successful there with a 51-26 overall record. If he's interested he'd be a top candidate.
Jim Mora Jr.-Could be blamed for the Seahawks' woeing secondary, already has been named head coach for the Seahawks next season. However, he's said the UW job would be a "dream job" (which ended up getting him fired as the Atlanta Falcons' Head Coach. I doubt he's even being considered though considered he's already got a job lined up for him.
Lane Kiffin-Recently fired as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Was horrible at Oakland compiling a 5-15 record. Signficant college coaching experience as offensive coordinator at USC for the 2006-06 season, was a wide recievers and tight ends coach at USC from 2001-2005...UPDATE: Has publicly stated interest in job.
Chris Peterson-Currently the head football coach at Boise State University, he does have a 30-3 record, which is pretty decent last time I checked. Would he leave his steady job? I think so, considering that UW has more potential than Boise St.
Pat Hill-Currently the head football coach at Fresno State, holds a 85-55 record, has reached 8 bowls in the last 9 years, however half of them have been the Silicon Valley Bowl...BOOO!!! Wouldn't complain if they hired him but wouldn't excited...
Todd Graham- Currently the head football coach at Tulsa, relatively new to the coaching scene previously coaching Rice University. His team is undefeated right now, but that could be relative to the fact that their in Conference USA. Notice a trend? A lot of non-BCS names are being rumored and mentioned....
Brian Kelly- Currently the head football coach at Cincinnati, a former coach in D-2 College Football where he won back-to-back national championships in 2002-03, won a bowl game last year going 11-3...a little to untested at the D-1 Ranks for my taste....
Gary Patterson- Currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University, has a 4-3 bowl record with TCU, no major bowls, currently in 2008 holds an 8-1 record, also being looked at by Kansas State and Clemson...
Will Muschamp-Currently the defensive coordinator at Texas, was a finalist last year for best assistant coach in college football, has yet to be a head coach....
Randy Edall-Currently the head footbal coach at University of Connetticutt, probably the least known out of all those previously mentioned and the least experienced.
Mike Holmgren-Why not? He won't have a job next year..although the 49ers and him have been linked over and over again..
Here are some other names also being thrown around but there's not much to say about them:
DeWayne Walker- current UCLA D-Coordinator
Chip Kelly- current Oregon O-Coordinator
Skip Holtz- Head coach at East Carolina
Mike Riley- Head coach at Oregon State
Mike Tice- Former Seahawk, former head coach of Vikings
Norm Chow- current UCLA O-Coordinator
Norm Chow- current UCLA O-Coordinator
