"Playoffs? You're talking about Playoffs? You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game"
-Jim Mora Sr.
As for the game itself, this wasn't a shocker. Charlie Frye showed us that he hasn't improved at all since his days as a starter in Cleveland. The Packers stacked the line and kept the Hawks's running offense in check. Generally, when you can't run the ball and you can't throw the ball, its difficult to score points (how's that for a John Madden saying?).
In the grand scheme of things, however, this is one of the greater (nasty) surprises in Seattle sports history. That this team, which has so much talent, could be 1-4, was unthinkable at the season's start, but here it is. At this point, the Seahawks have less than a four percent chance at five-peating as NFC West champs.
The one thing this can't account for, however, is talent, and Seattle still has it in spades. However, that talent needs to play like it can. The defense rebounded well from last weeks embarrassment but the secondary still folded in the second half.
I don't know if this is because of bad personnel, bad schemes or bad coaching, but it needs to stop now. When the offense has a real quarterback I think they will look a little better, but we can't afford to play Frye again. These problems need to be solved by next week, or you can forget anything coming out of this season. And that would be a shame.
