UW Women’s Cross Country Team: The Huskies won their first national championship at the NCAA Championship meet in Terre Haute, Indiana. Led by freshmen Christine Babcock, who took 7th, and Kendra Schaaf (12th), the Women’s Cross Country team added the NCAA Championship to their undefeated season. They won with a score of 79, while Oregon came in second with 131 points. In such a down season for Seattle, this Husky team is one of the lone bright spots. Grade: A+

Everett Girls Soccer Team
: The Everett Seagulls (worst team name ever) won the 3A state championship Saturday, defeating Seattle Prep in the finals 3-0. They dominated their way to the championship, outscoring opponents 17 to 3 and defeating #1 ranked Kennedy 4-1 in the semifinals. Grade: A

Seattle Seahawks
: The Hawk’s record dropped to 2-9 on the season after a 20-17 loss to the Washington Redskins. The loss was Seattle’s fourth of less than 7 points and third of less than three. Just imagine, if they had been able to win all four of these close games, they would be 6-5 and in the heat of the playoff race…Grade: D

Ryan Perkins
, UW football team: The Husky kicker missed field goals of 28 and 37 yards in the Huskies’ 16-13 overtime loss. The 28 yarder in the 4th Quarter could have possibly clinched the game, and the 37 yarder in second overtime definitely cost them the game. It seems fitting that in the one game the Huskies actually looked like they were going to win, they lost because of a kicker. Grade: F-
