UW Football Recruiting Update

With Tyrone Willingham out and Steve Sarkisian in, here is an update on the Huskies' current recruiting class for 2009:

Three Star Recruits:
Nathan Fellner-Safety (Fresno, CA)
Keith Price-Quarterback (Bellflower, CA)
Marlion Barnett- Tight End (Corona, CA)
Andru Pulu- Strong side Linebacker (Federal Way, WA)--Federal Way HS

Two Star Recruits:
Aaron Grymes- Cornerback (Seattle, WA)--West Seattle HS
Kenneth Pinkard- Cornerback (Dallas, TX)
Talia Crichton- Defensive End (Lakewood, CA)
Josh Moten- Quarterback (Harbor City, CA)

One Star Recruits:
Semisi Tokolahi- Defensive Tackle (Hilo, HI)

As you can see, this recruiting class currently sucks. Sarkisian has a lot of work to do as Willingham had no chance to recruit good players as he was to busy avoiding a win-less season. With only 9 commits, the Huskies' class ranks last in the Pac-10 and 77th in the country according to Scout.com. Here are some notable recruits that currently have UW on their short list:

Four Star Recruits:
Michael Clay- Wide Receiver (San Jose, CA)
Stan Hasiak- Offensive Tackle (Kapolei, HI)
James Boyd- Defensive End (Los Angeles, CA)

Hopefully Sarkisian will be able to pick up at least one of the above mentioned players in the four-star zone. There are still some three/two star prospects that are from local high schools, Sarkisian needs to recruit those guys hard and lock them up. Again, don't expect any miracles, but the buzz surrounding Sarkisian should help his chances in getting people to come play football at UW.
