Weekly Poll: Who Will be the 2009 Redeemer?

Now that the year of 2008 is finally past us, which person, team, or group of people will lead the turnaround for Seattle sports in 2009?

Here are the contenders:

Steve Sarkisian:

Wouldn't it be great if Steve Sarkisian could lead the Huskies to a winning record in 2009? I don't know what a winning football team is like anymore. Scratch that. I think I've forgotten how it feels to even win a college football game. Please brings us out of this pitiful state Mr. Sarkisian. I bleed purple for wins, not 0-12 seasons.

The Seattle Mariners:

With an improved defense, a healthy Erik Bedard, a new manager, no Jose Vidro/Richie Sexson, Brandon Morrow starting, and a weakened AL West division you just never know. I won't be surprised if the Mariners are competing for the AL West title come September 2009.

The City of Seattle:

Bringing the NBA back to Seattle? Improving snow response? Letting Tony Wroten attend Garfield? 2009 is a chance for redemption.

Jim Mora:

With the Mike Holmgren era over, Jim Mora is officially the new head coach of the Seahawks. He had success in turning around the Falcons, and now has his chance to turn around the Seahawks. Maybe Jim can lead us to the playoffs, but I don't think daddy would be too pleased with that wish...

The UW Basketball Team:

The Huskies are off to a 10-3 start, are riding an eight game streak, have the best rebounder in the country (Brockman), beat the Cougars, and are extremely confident right now. The sky is the limit for this team right now. Focus, concentration, and execution all will be needed to get the Huskies into their first NCAA tournament since 2006.
