Inside Scoop:
Last season Seattle Prep had one of its most successful seasons in recent history, it is now a question on whether they'll be able to sustain the momentum they have built up from last year. There is now a system in place that looks to be making progress with what was a really fractured program for a long time. The players and coaches have raved about their new strength coach, who has helped the team improve their size, strength, and speed this past spring and summer.
On paper, this team loses a lot from graduation, especially on defense. Joey Deritis, who will be walking on at UW next season helped this team tremendously on both sides of the football, they will miss his production. Look out for Tere Calloway (So.) and Ryan Wheatley (Sr.) at the running back position. At press time, it is unclear which player will get the starting nod, but both players have the ability to have solid production from the backfield. If Prep can put together a decent offensive line, don't be surprised to see solid production from either Calloway or Wheatley.
Nick Holt is the obvious leader of this team, he can't do it alone, but he will keep this team in a lot of games because of his physical grit on both sides of the football. If he stays healthy this team definitely has what it takes to make it to the playoffs again. There is a lot of experience on this squad including captains Sawyer Coleman (Sr.) and Michael Hardy (Sr.) who will be two-way starters.
Prep should be able to compete with the majority of the teams in the league, but it doesn't look like that they have the depth or talent to keep the O'Dea game close.
Enemy's Take (an opposing player's view on Seattle Prep this season):
"Go big or go home. I believe Seattle Prep is just like any other team in our league, teams are taking them seriously now, they will be a challenge"
