Inside Scoop:
There are few positive aspects to draw out of the performance of the Bishop Blanchet football team from last year. It seems like the only way for this team to go is up, but even that is in doubt with the lack of talent returning, especially on the offense.
The defense returns three All-Metro selections, but the offense is a question mark at best. This team lacks the depth to be competitive in the league this year. It may take a season or two for head coach Aaron Maul to completely overhaul the football program and begin to develop some legitimate talent.
There were glimpses of success last season, including their late season victory, beating Bainbridge 17-14, accounting for their second and final win of the season. With Lakeside out of the league, Blanchet could go winless this season if they don't beat their non-conference opponents. Granite Falls is a winnable early season game, but Bellarmine Prep and Mountlake Terrace are both solid 4A programs that could blow out the Braves.
This team needs to focus on establishing its identity and any win is a step towards the right direction. Consider three or more wins a successful season for Bishop Blanchet.
Enemy's Take (an opposing player's view on Bishop Blanchet) :
"They'll be recovering with the losses of starters Brian Nobel and Sam Williams, but Peter Johnson and Brady Flies are some talented players in the backfield. They'll be lucky to win one metro game this year."
