We will be profiling some Track and Field athletes from around the state who will be competing at the State Championships this Friday and Saturday.
Garfield High School Senior, Christian Blanks currently in 4A, has the ninth best time in the 100m and 200m dashes.

Who do you run for?
I run for Garfield High School
What events are you going to be running in at state?
At state I will be running the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, and the 4x100 meter relay.
Who do you most look forward to running against and why?
It does not really matter to me who I run against. I am just going to run my hardest and try my best to win the race.
Who is your favorite professional sprinter?
Being my first year running track, I have never really followed track at all so the only sprinter I know is Usain Bolt. So I would have to say he is my favorite.
Do you play any other sports?
I also play basketball.
What are your college plans?
As of right now I plan on going to Hampton University in Virginia.
Are you going to run Track there or play basketball?
I am already on the basketball team and I also plan on running track.
What has surprised you the most, seeing as this is your first year ever running track?
I would have to say I surprised myself by actually being really good at track. I never thought I would be this good at track.
Why did you decide to run track all of a sudden this year?
I decided to run track to basically stay in shape and to just be a stronger athlete.
