North Central High School Senior, Leon Dean currently has the top time in 3A in 800m. He is also third in the mile in 3A.

What events are you going to be running in at state?
800m, 1600m, 4x400 relay
Who do you most look forward to running against and why?
My teammates - Alex Avila in the 800, Andy Kimpel/Ben Johnston in the 1600 - because they always push me to run my fastest (even in practice).
Who are your favorite professional runners?
Alan Webb because he is so talented yet so human in his struggles. Nick Symmonds because he has a deadly kick.
Do you play any other sports?
Besides Cross Country and track, I play competitive Ultimate frisbee during the summer
Where do you plan on going to college?
I will go to the University of Texas at Austin next year and be a Longhorn.
Do you plan on running in college?
Yes, I plan on running cross country and track at the University of Texas
Did you have any goals going into this season, and have you reached them?
I had four goals coming into this season:
- a school record in the 1600 or 800
- a state title in the 1600 or 800
- a state title in the 4x400
- a state record in the 4xmile
None of them have been met...yet..but they are all still possible.
Who will be your stiffest competition in the events you're running in state?
In the 800, everyone is always a threat, but the stiffest competition will probably be Michael Miller, Erik Berg, Seth Rumbaugh, Alex Avila, and Kyle Mellander. In the 1600, Andy Kimpel, Ben Johnston, Michael Miller, and a bunch of Seattle Prep guys.
