Skyline started their year off well last Saturday with a 17-0 victory against one of Oregon's top teams, Jesuit. The Spartans are the team to beat in 4A football this year. We got a chance to chat with one of their top players, starting Tight End, Cooper Pelluer, Enjoy!

What are you most looking toward accomplishing this season? Individually? and as a team?

This season is going to be very big not only as it is my senior season and final year of high school football and you always want to go out with a big year and to take state. The past years seniors set the bar high and have showed us what needs to be done to do so. Individually my goal is to be a league leader in sacks and tackles for defensive end and to lead kingco in receptions and touchdowns for a tight end.

Besides you, Jake, and Kasen, who are some unheralded players on the team that people don't know too much about that will make ane impact this upcoming season?

A couple players that will have a big impact on this upcoming season are Connor Cree a junior defensive end, evan zegar a junior safety, evan day and michael stead are very explosive and fast lineman that will be key for us this year. Losing Gino, Jake Knecht, and Willie Chandler for receivers were key losses but kids like Tait Stephens, Connor Brandt, Miles Edwards, Jordan Simone, and Michael Ford have really stepped up to fill those spots.

Coming from a family with such a rich football lineage, do you feel any pressure to live up to certain expectations?

Growing up basically with a football in my hands and growing up with and around the game has really been a blessing. I have my high school coaches and then I have my father who is the biggest influence in my life and who knows so much about the game that he gives me many pointers and tips that help me grow as a player. But pressure wise, I honestly dont feel any just cause the support from family and my love of the game i dont even feel pressure. If I were to quit football tomorrow of course my family would be very questioning and frustrated but at the end of the day would support me in anything I do.

What are college plans looking like? Have you been offered any scholarships?

I would love to play football at the next level. That is what I am working for and hope to accomplish. I have yet to receive any scholarships but have gotten interest from UW, WSU, Oregon State, Oregon, and Stanford.
