Soon to be Senior, Sekou "Suki" Wiggs from O'Dea high school will be one of the top basketball players in the state of Washington next season.  The Fighting Irish finished fourth in the 3A state tournament last March and are looking to win it all next season. We ranked Wiggs No. 19 in our high school basketball player rankings last February. Wiggs was also included on the AP all-state team as an honorable mention. We had the opportunity to talk to Wiggs about his game and his current recruitment. Read our interview after the jump.

SEATOWN SPORTS:
How's your offseason going so far? What've you been up to basketball wise?
SEKOU WIGGS: It's going real good. Mostly playing AAU basketball and now we're in high school summer league, so that should be fun also.

SS: I know you play for Friends of Hoop right now, how has the team been playing, which of your teammates has made the biggest improvement since last season?
SW: Yeah, we've been playing really good. And the biggest improvement since last season is probably Zach [Lavine]. He's been surprising me a lot and he's someone I can rely on in the back court with me.

SS: What are your overall plans for this summer? Making any college visits? Playing in any out of state tournaments?
SW: Just O'Dea spring league and then four big tournaments in Las Vegas, Arizona, Oregon and then Bellevue. I'm trying to visit a couple colleges along the west coast. I go down to WSU on the [June] 18th.

SS: Will these be unofficial or official college visits?
SW: The California schools and Oregon State will be [official]. I'm not too sure about the Washington State.

SS: Which schools in California will be official visits?
SW: Cal Irvine, Cal Berkeley, San Francisco, not sure about Cal Poly though.

SS: What do you see as your main strengths as a basketball player?
SW: Hmm, most likely getting to the hoop at will and also my [court] vision and [basketball] IQ.

SS: What position do you see yourself playing at the next level?
SW: 1/2

SS: Combo guard? Have a preference?
SW: I like them both; 1 because it's a leadership role. And the 2 because I become a scoring guard.

SS: Who did you consider to be the leaders on last year's O'Dea team?
SW: Dustin and I.

SS: What types of things does the team lose on the court with Dustin's departure?
SW: That extra boost. Whenever we needed someone to rely on to make a big play he was it. The team's going to miss that the most.

SS: Dustin will be off to Seattle U next year, has Coach Dollar showed any interest in having you play basketball there too?
SW: Yeah. He talked to me a lot after games this past season. And recently I've been getting a lot if calls from them [Seattle U].

SS: What kinds of things are you going to be looking out for when you start to check out schools this summer?
SW: I want to be able to come into school ready to play. I also want a college town with an arena fits a lot of people. I feed off of the crowd often.

SS: Who are some NBA/College players past or present that you try to model your game after?
SW: Carmelo [Anthony] or Demitre McCammey are two players I take after.

SS: So which schools have offered scholarships to you?
SW: Cal Poly, Cal Irvine, and Portland State. I'm hoping WSU [offers] by the end of the month.

SS: What schools continue to show interest? WSU, Seattle U, and...
SW: California, Gonzaga, USF, and Boise State.

SS: Do you have a timetable at all of when you want to commit?
SW: Either before the High school season starts or right after.
