Wow. This story has GOTTEN a lot more interesting. As always, TMZ.com fills us in:
TMZ obtained the 911 call made on Saturday morning -- in which the Top Pot employee tells the dispatcher Golden and a friend snuck in through an unlocked door, stole keys and a bunch of donuts ... and then ran off.
The woman also claims the Seattle Seahawks star then came back to the scene of the crime, returned the keys, and tried to blame his friend for the heist ... but the employee says she watched Tate "running from behind the counter."
Visit the link above to hear the actual 911 call. This recorded phone call fills in all gaps that may be left in "Maplegate."
no commentsName: Joe Jurevicius
Claim to Fame: He has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated twice and he is the owner of a Superbowl Ring.
Was he any Good? Jurevicius' career was filled with ups and downs. When out on the field and not in the trainer's room injured, he proved to be a more than capable receiver. He was always considered to have some of the best hands in the league. Even though Jurevicius was a key factor in the Buccaneers 2002 Superbowl victory, he had his stand-out year wearing a Seahawks helmet. In 2005, he helped lead Seattle to the Superbowl with 10 touchdowns. He had a great game in the Superbowl against the Stealers, but I’ll spare you the details of that painful game.
Anything Else Interesting About Him? Sadly, his son Michael died in 2003. As a result, Joe dedicated all of his touchdowns to his son and has created a scholarship in his name. He filed a lawsuit against the Browns in 2009 for the staph infection he contracted that essentially ended his career. Jurevicius is also a hunting junkie. He is now a co-owner of a hunting supply store and resort. And saving the best for last, he came to my fifth grade class, and I had the pleasure of holding his Superbowl ring.

Via TMZ.com:
TMZ has learned the former Notre Dame football star was caught trespassing inside a Top Pot donut shop in Bellevue, Washington at 3 AM Saturday morning.
Cops would only confirm that Tate was given a "trespass warning" -- and was not arrested -- but they wouldn't expand on why the 21-year-old was inside the store while it was closed.
We spoke to the manager of the Top Pot shop ... who said he would not be commenting on the matter. In a related note, Top Pot recently inked a deal to become the official coffee and donut partner of Qwest Field -- home of the Seattle Seahawks.
Calls to Tate's rep have not been returned.
An interesting story...but I thought it was more interesting on how TMZ found fit to alert us right when the story broke. This could be something serious, or this could be nothing at all. I've always dreamed of breaking into Krispy Kreme Donuts to indulge myself in those sweet treats, but I've restrained myself. Maybe Golden Tate just wanted some donuts really bad and maybe they just forgot to lock the door.
Update 11:30 AM
Via Pro Football Talk:
As we hear it, Tate entered the store with another person and feasted on donuts. We're told that the folks at Top Pot opted not to press charges, which helped Tate avoid arrest.
Update 11:33 AM
Via Softy's Facebook:
Top Pot says everythings cool with Golden Tate and that he was in the store at 3 AM because he lives in the building and knows the baker. He wanted a donut.
Update 2:46 PM
Via Danny O'Neil's Seattle Times Blog:
"When I got here, it was one of the first things I had," Tate said. "I heard about it. They're irresistible. It was kind of a foolish mistake that won't happen again. If you ever want some maple bars, that's the place to go."
In what seemed like a bizarre story initially, it has turned out be a quite funny and innocent one. The stock of Top Pot Maple Bars have shot up since this endorsement from Tate, hopefully we'll be seeing an endorsement deal come out of this whole incident.

A lot of fans were skeptical with the hiring of Pete Carroll as head coach and General Manager Jon Schneider. This is Pete Carroll's first job as an NFL head coach since 2001 and this is Schneider's first-time playing the role of General Manager. The ability of these two men to work together was a key factor in their respective hirings. Up until the draft, the Seahawks had yet to make a significant splash in the off season.

Now that the NFL Draft has come to a close, we get our first opportunity to assess these teams as we get closer to the season. Here are some early predictions of how I see the division races playing out. Please keep in mind that there is still a lot of time before the first snap so these are not locks by any means.

The Seahawks got a pretty good draft pick yesterday with Golden Tate in the 2nd round. The one knock on Tate's game has been his physicality. However, Tate has a chance to establish himself as a solid NFL wide reciever if he keeps on improving. The raw talent is there and he should be able to help the Seahawks from the get-go.

no comments#6: Predicted: Russell Okung, OT – Oklahoma State
Trent Williams would be the tackle most people were expecting, but Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout.com says that he is the tackle atop the draft board of the Washington Redskins at #4. The Redskins will almost certainly be drafting a tackle at that pick, as well.
Okung is a left tackle whom the Seahawks will most certainly want to fill the void left by Walter Jones either this year or the next. He is a much safer pick than Trent Williams – while Williams is larger and stronger, Okung is more established and has better technique. I could easily see Williams having weight problems in the future. Okung is almost surely going to become a starter for a long time at left tackle. Most importantly, he fits every mold of Alex Gibbs’ zone blocking scheme.
