This Saturday the NBA returns to Seattle. Well, kind of. For those living under a rock, the H206 Charity Basketball Classic takes place this weekend at Key Arena and features several of the top NBA players from the Seattle-area including Brandon Roy and Jamal Crawford. The game will benefit the A PLUS Youth Program. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
See rosters and more information after the jump.
The game will feature the "Seattle Team" and "The League Team," here are the official roster for both squads:
Seattle Team:
Avery Bradley (Boston Celtics)
Aaron Brooks (Phoenix Suns)
Will Conroy (Turkey)
Jamal Crawford (Atlanta Hawks)
Michael Dickerson (Spain)
Spencer Hawes (Philadelphia 76ers)
Brandon Roy (Portland Trailblazers)
Brian Scalabrine (Chicago Bulls)
Isaiah Thomas (Sacramento Kings)
Martell Webster (Minnesota Timberwolves)
Marvin Williams (Atlanta Hawks)
The League:
Marcus Banks (New Orleans Hornets)
Michael Beasley (Minnesota Timberwolves)
Troy Bell (France)
Brandon Jennings (Milwaukee Bucks)
Pooh Jeter (Sacramento Kings)
Jason Kapono (Philadelphia 76ers)
Kyle Singler (Detroit Pistons)
Nolan Smith (Portland Trailblazers)
Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors)
Dorell Wright (Golden State Warriors)
The event will also feature a three-point contest, skills challenge and a half-court shot contest at 2:00 p.m. The halftime show will honor players from the 1979 Sonics championship team. Lenny Wilkens, Fred Brown, Jack Sikma, Gus Williams, Paul Silas and Wally Walker are slated to make an appearance.
While the game will not match the intensity of a real NBA game, the event itself promises to remind the city of its rich basketball culture and keep hope alive for those wanting the Sonics to return. I'll be covering the event and hopefully will have a live blog and at the least some live tweets for our readers. I encourage everyone to come out and support the cause for the A Plus Youth Program, it should be a fun day of basketball.
